The tour begins at Borgergade 30, 1300 Copenhagen. At the starting point, your guide will welcome you and provide important safety instructions and practical tips for cycling comfortably and safely around Copenhagen.
Royal Danish Theatre
The Royal Danish Theatre is Denmark’s national performing arts institution and one of the most important cultural landmarks in Copenhagen. Founded in 1748, it is home to world-class opera, ballet, and theatre performances. The historic Old Stage near Kongens Nytorv is especially famous for its beautiful architecture and rich artistic tradition, making it a central part of Denmark’s cultural heritage.
Nyhavn
The first stop of the tour is Nyhavn, Copenhagen’s most famous canal. Built in the 17th century to allow trading ships to sail directly into the city center, it is known for its colorful historic houses and old wooden ships. Once a busy commercial harbor and lively sailors’ district, today Nyhavn is one of the city’s most photographed places and a symbol of Copenhagen’s maritime history and culture.
Amalienborg Palace
The next landmark you will see is Amalienborg Palace, home of the Danish royal family and one of Copenhagen’s most important landmarks. Built as part of the Frederiksstaden district, the palace complex consists of four elegant buildings surrounding an octagonal square with a statue of King Frederik V at its center. Here, you will also see the Royal Guards and have the chance to take photos near the palace.
The Marble Church
The next landmark you will see is the Marble Church, also known as Frederik’s Church, one of Copenhagen’s most impressive landmarks. Famous for its large green dome inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the church was first planned in 1749 as part of the Frederiksstaden district and completed in 1894. It is admired for its grand architecture and beautiful views from the dome.
The Royal Danish Opera
The next stop is the Copenhagen Opera House, also known as Operaen. Located on Holmen, directly opposite Amalienborg Palace, it is Denmark’s national opera house and one of the city’s most striking modern landmarks. Designed by Henning Larsen, it was completed in 2004 and officially opened in January 2005. It is especially known for its dramatic roof overhang and richly decorated interior.
The Royal Pavilion
The next stop is the Royal Pavilions at Nordre Toldbod. Built in 1905, these small historic buildings were used as waiting and reception shelters for the Danish Royal Family when arriving or departing by sea. They are closely connected to royal maritime traditions and ceremonies involving the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
The Gefion Fountain
The next landmark you will see up close is the Gefion Fountain, one of Copenhagen’s most impressive fountains. Located next to St. Alban’s Church, it shows the Nordic goddess Gefion driving four oxen in the legendary story of how Zealand was created. Donated by Carl Jacobsen and unveiled in 1908, it is a striking symbol of Danish mythology and history.
Kastellet
The next landmark you will see is Kastellet, one of the best-preserved star-shaped fortresses in Northern Europe. Founded under King Christian IV, it remains an active military area while also welcoming visitors to enjoy its peaceful paths, ramparts, and canals. Its iconic windmill is a reminder of the fortress’s role in preparing for long periods under siege.
The Little Mermaid
The next landmark you will see is the Little Mermaid, Copenhagen’s most famous statue and one of its most visited attractions. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, the statue was unveiled in 1913 and sits quietly on a rock by the harbor. Today, it stands as a symbol of Denmark’s storytelling tradition and Copenhagen’s close connection to the sea.
Nyboder
The next stop is Nyboder, a historic neighborhood famous for its bright yellow houses. Built in the 17th century by King Christian IV for sailors of the Danish Navy, the area reflects Copenhagen’s strong naval history. As one of the city’s oldest residential districts, Nyboder offers a peaceful atmosphere and a unique look into the lives of sailors and their families in earlier times.
S- Train
Now it is time to take Copenhagen’s iconic red S-train with our bikes and make our way towards nature. As we board with our bicycles, it is important to stay alert and be ready to get on quickly and smoothly.
Dyrehavn ( Deer garden)
The next stop is Dyrehaven, also known as the Deer Park, a beautiful natural area just north of Copenhagen near Klampenborg. Once established as a royal hunting ground in the 17th century, it is now home to hundreds of wild deer roaming freely through forests and open grasslands.
Hermitage Palace (Eremitageslottet)
The next stop is the Hermitage Palace (Eremitageslottet), a historic royal hunting lodge located in the heart of Dyrehaven. Built in the 18th century during the reign of King Christian VI, the palace was used by the Danish royal family for hunting gatherings and royal banquets.
